Which thread did you think you clicked on?
I liked death note until the second half
Most threads like this are going to conclude by saying yeah streaming is detrimental for everyone involved musically especially the listener and music lovers.
The accessibility of music has had a negative impact!
We appreciated music way more when we had to buy it or even take the time to download it for free

Some of us still do!
But yeah it has conditioned a couple generations to view it as background content.
When they let chance the rapper drop a “mixtape” that wasn’t free and was nominated for a Grammy
Its drakes fault
When drake re did so far gone for the duckets

Appreciation for the time

worst part is the habit of playing an album once, saving the 3 songs you like and never revisiting the other ones
when you went to the store to buy your CDs you would play it until you loved the fillers too

opposite for me
when i downloaded music, i wouldn’t always be able to find full zips of older albums easily, so i’d only have the singles & maybe a few other popular album cuts
when streaming happened, i finally got to play certain albums in full for the first time
They called me a madman on ktt 1 for this take
that was also a year after IYRTITL

he didn't say "it's so free" or "here it is on DatPiff but the quality is

idk what the first quote is supposed to mean, but DatPiff wasn’t supposed to have IYRTITL on their site, they put it up because they were just as confused as everyone else when Drake premiered the mixtape on iTunes
& yea it counted but that was an early example of the line getting blurred

Dating back to the 70s mixtapes were basically bootleg playlists on cassettes and CDs. Before the internet artists put together mixtapes (a collection of their music) to promote themselves or distribute to labels. Once everything became digital you didn't need a mixtape anymore you just needed a download link
DSP
try it out these days
oh of course i do
but aside from streaming, i only pay money for either physical media as a collector’s thing or digital downloads if they include bonus tracks
