At what point does something stop being old/dated/lame and start becoming memories and nostalgia?
I'm nostalgic for music from 2021, 2022, hell even 2023!

it can be almost immediate

For me personally 3 years it starts to become like “damn that was really 3 years ago?”
Then anything 5+ years starts to be reminiscing on things
Nostalgia that’s triggered by one of your senses like smell or sound >>>>
That s*** is crazy. I listened to The Ecstatic by Mos Def on YouTube a few weeks ago. I used to listen to that album on repeat while driving back in 2015-2016, around that time I was seeing a girl. When I put on the album recently, I could smell her lip balm. Freaky s*** fr

this song from the soundtrack of On Any Sunday (undisputed goat motorcycle film imo) played on my discover weekly playlist driving to work one Monday after a sick shroom trip the day before and I was straight up transported back through my whole childhood in a blink, but specifically all the stuff I did involving motorcycles. I won't go into details but it was insaneeeeee I started happy crying and all coz of one song

The human mind is fascinating like that
Nostalgia is a response of not being able to enjoy a moment enough.
Therefore whatever turns nostalgic it's because it has a deep connection with our younger version of ourselves and it's basically the need for closure of that certain timeframe.

Nostalgia can very much be a response of enjoying a previous time a lot as well
I'm not always sad when I'm feeling nostalgic, or even the majority of time.
Playing new Pokemon games makes me feel nostalgic, and it increases my enjoyment of them in the moment for example.
depends on if the times you were going through were eventful. 2022 is super nostalgic to me, but not 2021 or 2023

Just depends how old you are and if it's still well received, usually nostalgia comes with bias also so people will rate a 7 as a 10 just because it was part of the good memories they had at the time
