It's baffling to me that there isn't a wealth of long-term research on the functional and developmental effects of ADHD medication on children (positive and negative)

For medication that's so robustly effective in treating the majority of individuals with ADHD, why has this not been accomplished yet?

Glad to see America is putting its taxpayer money to good use

Honestly I do agree, but there is a chunk of evidence based studies BUT imo we need more meta a***ysis at this moment really badly

What's sad is how heavily guarded all this info is

A parent can't hop on psychinfo, let alone a college database conglomerate on their own. S***s expensive just to access. Yeah you can request stuff through a library but who has the f***ing time to do that on top of actually sourcing these documents first?

I'm in a master's program for psych and even I can't f***ing find relevant stuff for my clients. I have a meeting scheduled with my mentor literally just to work on finding relevant materials this next week. It's so tiring. I spent 2 hours yesterday trying to find SLEEP TRAINING studies. Why is that hard to find??

It's hard to access, it's convoluted, and when presented publicly, it tends to be skewed or muddled with agenda

Real information and truth is very, very difficult to come by

Yup especially if you don't know how to access it. So many people believe psychological and behavioral pseudoscience as fact because its trending on socials or is just what pops up on google

And then people think of services that can change their kids lives for the better as abuse because the said services are painted as abuse from a bias or fluff piece intended to be shared as much as possible. And this s*** can be life changing for all

On the flip side we saw the facilitated communication craze of the 90s as well as other bs not even studied before it's thrown out as a save all smh. History of psychology pisses me off because of how f***ed up the field used to be and gives so much fire for skepticism. Thank God it's so strengthened in this aspect

Remember the reddit founder killed himself cause he got caught trying to make all studies/articles/journals free and the government caught him lmao
