SICKO MODE came out like 6 months later
That's a Travis Scott song that features uncredited vocals from Drake
Gods Plan was literally the biggest Rap Song of all time before Not Like Us happened
Of course it wouldnt
Unfortunately i heard their version of that daft punk a lot outside last year which i do not like
That era from Views to more life ending with Scorp were all mega hits
He hasn’t had anything in a similar stratosphere since imo it’s weird

No artist drops hits forever
Laugh Now Cry Later if we’re going off the Hotline Bling/God’s Plan/In My Feelings scale
It’s definitely the closest prob woulda been way bigger if not for covid
Like it's not weird at all that's how it works for almost every single popular musician
A major hit is something like Shaboozey a bar song and Sabrina espresso , we usually get like 2-3 of those per year from the music industry . Gods plan was the last major hit , laugh now cry later comes close. Rich baby daddy was a huge hit loweky when it came black urban women , the amount of times I’ve been out and seen how they reacted to that song you would’ve thought it was singles ladies by Beyoncé. It was mostly sexy red part that got them hype tbh.
That’s what I mean RBDA is def kinda’ve a hit but it’s more of a sleeper/ cult hit. I’m talking bout One Dance everywhere level

On paper Drake is still huge and still dropping commercial music. As the biggest rapper around you would think he would have had at least one major hit in the last 6-7 years
Crazy how he’s like the most commercially dominant rapper ever and not once from SFG-100 Gigs did this man ever bring in a swath of new hiphop lovers. Inspiring new people to get into the genre has gotta be the most telling sign of a rapper actually being “the guy” in hiphop and he never did it
It might be impressive tbh. Drake ks like The Force Awakens

Fall off started
It's a slow decline because of his level of popularity
He had an entire decade of dropping smash hits
If anything the fact that he's still consistently active hurts him in that aspect
People got a decade of Drake smash hits
The fact that he is still dropping even smaller hits is defying the odds. The audience wants to be tired of drake
If he took a couple years off he would be received even better

Force Awakens comparison is on point
To extrapolate, Honestly Nevermind was his Last Jedi. Amazing album hated by the mainstream
FATD was his Rise of Skywalker

this is actually really interesting; why do you think this happens?
it’s very telling that the people who get laundered into hip-hop through Drake basically only listen to whoever was in his musical ecosystem nine times out of ten too (Weeknd, PND, 21 Savage etc.)
Her loss
Major though?
Depends on what you call a hit. If it’s a very popular song that went and stayed at #1 he had plenty over the years. If you mean song that literally everybody knows it’s probably In My Feelings or Toosie Slide
Rich Flex was big but it wasn’t gods plan, one dance level big
Wasn’t Nice For What either
That’s a hit chune right there

Drake literally made hiphop the most listened to genre in the US and arguably even the world
Rich Flex was big but it wasn’t gods plan, one dance level big
Girls like girls
Gods Plan
Nice For What
Sicko Mode
In My Feelings
All hits and all dropped in summer 2018. I don’t think he’s had a run like this since

Do you think it's because his most successful decade coincides with time that rap was the largest genre anyway?
Like he wasn't going to bring a new audience because the audience was already there due to the level rap was at

You’re confusing cause and effect here, rap was the largest genre for a while because of Drake
