what our food industry has to do with it?

We have some of the worst food safety standards in the developed world. The amount of chemicals and disinfectants we use in even our "organic" foods make them unsuitable for consumption in Europe. A LOT of the chemicals we use in food dyes cause cancer, vision degradation, liver problems, and a myriad of other issues

Much of why these are still tolerated is because they're cheap ways for food manufacturers to prepare food, and their parent companies are usually multi-billion dollar conglomerates that can lobby politicians to block food safety legislation

why is it that many would reject a vaccine?

this is just my armchair estimate based on a survey performed in my own country, which showed 30% of people were apprehensive regarding a vaccine.

given there seems to be a section of america who will passionately reject any measures that will help control the virus, i imagine this percentage will be higher in the US.

vaccine might help prevent the current iteration, but mutations exist, our own public health system is abysmal, and our food industry practices only make it more likely more diseases will spread

A vaccine will likely protect against mutations as well. This isn't going to be a permanent thing we deal with forever

    In America? Without a vaccine?

Too bad millions upon millions are reluctant to take the vaccine.

America will be ground zero for Corona for years to come probably forever even with an incredible vaccine

is the number of anti vaxxers disproportionately higher than other countries? If so, why?

fairly certain there’s huge anti vaccine movements in at least Australia, and Denmark literally just protested for several days against a mandatory vaccine and won. That’s just 2 off the top of my head w/o doing any research.

America is filled to the brim with uneducated dumbasses or people who are moderately to severely influenced by conspiracy theories.

I guarantee you the trump block of America and conservatives are overtly anti vax. They act as if the virus is make believe and don't even wear masks and they think masks are infringing upon their rights

So why would these smooth brain conservatives neanderthals take a vaccine that is in their minds, is made up or for a "benign" virus. Or worse, they believe it will put you under mInD CoNtRoL from the cHiP or give you the mArK oF tHe bEaSt.

some countries in asia have already returned to normal.

europe will be back to normal around mid 2021.

as for the US, who knows? I imagine at least 40% of americans would reject a covid vaccine.

They will until their employers require them to get it to return to work

we could have a third wave this time next year if people keep acting like it isnt real

but hopefully this time next year we'll also be mass producing a vaccine. Id say hopefully by summer we'll be past the worst of the pandemic

why is it that many would reject a vaccine?

Because many people feels like it has been rushed and through out history many newly coming vaccines had side effets at first.

I guess even if vaccine drops beginning of next year will take a year or 2 to get it to work fully and have big amount of population take it
