Jay Z didn’t even have to say that nigga’s name
HOV THE BEST MC OF ALL TIME AND PEOPLE CANT STAND IT
Something was still missing compared to the warmth and intimacy that we feel from other artists. He'll never truly be able to break that barrier between himself and the listener.
Idk we can agree to disagree but songs like Regrets & Song Cry are very intimate songs to me & make me emotional forsure

"Shit, I've got to live with the fact I did you wrong forever " becomes eyeroll-worthy when you realize that in reality he forgot about the chick shortly after recording the song and found Beyonce. And that was the conclusion to that whole song lol

There’s definitely scattered moments where I connect with him but I see what you mean. Jay is almost like the polar opposite of Pac, where Pac is 100% heart and emotion jay is 100% brain and skill

Lmao didn’t know that. But even still, no matter if he lied about his feelings on the song or not, it still makes the listener (or at least me) feel close to the artist & connect emotionally w the music. S***, Family Business wasn’t even about Kanye’s life & that’s one of the most emotional songs ever

Ye comes off as very human and sincere, he's amazing at showing vulnerability. The polar opposite of Jay lol. Jay is mostly just cool to listen to, he's aligned with the Biggie's and Pusha T's of the world.

Biggie & Hov both have emotional heavy songs Pusha def not tho
Niggas really heard “fuck jay z” In that dumbass deep voice and thought s*** was hard

BIG never developed real vulnerability imo. Even his emotional moments felt theatrical. Pac, Ghost and Ye are better at that s***.. even Wayne.

Push has “vulnerable / emotional songs”
SNITCH, Sunshine, Hold On, Let Me Love You
Maybe those songs aren’t “typical” emotional / vulnerable songs, but I feel the intensity and heartbreak in these songs IMO

Alone in Vegas and Santeria apply too I think
A hint of vulnerability is there.
always was more of a Nas fan more then Jay growing up tbh.
Jay is a great and legend but imo a lot of acts in hiphop wouldn't exist without Nas
Yeah
