I just think, as a whole, everything that album tried to do conceptually he tightened up later, and there are some misses

The No Makeup/Tammy's Song/Chapter Six run is probably the most aimless on his main albums. Yeah the songs aren't really bad, but compared to albums as focused and purposeful as GKMC and TPAB you could cut that out and the album would be fine

That being said, though I think he improved as a lyricist, he was very hungry as a rapper and was obviously really special even back then. The highlights of the album are still incredible and anyone with ears could tell he had a classic in him.

Better than Morale but below TPAB, GKMC and DAMN
