    In my opinion, no order:

    D’Angelo
    Maxwell
    R. Kelly
    Brandy
    Mary J. Blige
    Badu
    Toni Braxton
    Jill Scott
    Bilal
    Raphael Saadiq

If I could I would add Sade and Babyface too !!!!

Frank for sure has more songs that lean in an R&B direction than the weeknd but wouldn’t even call him alternative R&B... dude is just alternative

He's in a class of his own. The only one from our generation that I would compare to him is Frank and that's only because of his mystique and small but fruitful discography.

Most of KTT hasn’t been here for 25 years so this will be a bunch of cap list based on recency bias or a lack of musical history
