I don’t get why one would claim that at all 🤷🏼‍♂️ His lyricism is good yes but he’s far from the best. I don’t even get the "Kendricks the better rapper but Ye is the better artist" discussion because Ye definitely beats or at least plays in the same league lyrically, least with his older work.
Drake for example plays in that exact same league aswell imo, while the mainstream never considers him a great lyricist. There’s really only one way i can explain this phenomenon to me and that is because people look at the lyrics on average through their whole discography. Of course an mainly rap focused artist like kendrick gon have a higher average of great lyrical songs than an all round crazy versatile artist like kanye or drake. But compare their lyrical tracks to each other and you will realize that they are probably of around the same quality and also quantity. It’s just that Kanye and drake make so much more music that’s not centered around lyricism.
And thats not even considering artists that clearly put kendricks lyrical ability in the mud like lupe fiasco for example, so where does this deluded opinion come from and why has it become the mainstream opinion?

When you talk pinnacle of athletic performance, the conversation starts and stops with Big Poppa Pump It Up. How else you think he could handle being outside in
12 Gallon Basketball Shorts. So much unnecessary fabric in the shorts got him carrying about an extra 50 pounds at all times. Joe Diesel frfr. Who knew shorts came in 52 length. Weather is not an obstacle once he throws these on, hot climate with a beanie and long sleeve shirt on got him sweating dusse flavored bullets but the man-capris provide just enough draft on the shins to keep his posture super nasty. The range. Body powered by Newports and white bread sandwiches, that’s the Sicko method. All I’m saying is the term “Athleisure” wouldn’t exist without this man right here because I bet you didn’t even know Nike made double wide shorts. Pay homage. Shorts wide enough to fit about 3-5 Dominican women in each leg, ya’ll really not seeing the bigger picture. Real freaky man s***. Pairing the big body shorts with the generic true religion button down is a dangerous and disgusting touch but hey. When you heard Starlets was having a pickup basketball tournament for free cake and milk this is how you pull up. You’re really a wild boy if your shorts scrape the top of your kicks. What’s bigger Joe’s Fat Man Scoop shorts or his beard? Why does Mal look like a full size midget with a size 5 shoe here? Questions that need answers. Man listen, drip so nasty even Covid couldn’t touch it.

i think as far as technical/wordplay lyricists go, there are many more that may be better than him

but delivery, subject matter, and just how he makes s*** personal and up front people take all that and put it together as 'he's the greatest' and I wouldn't disagree,

Only on ktt do people say that. Kendrick stans are mostly into pop so they have no other experience in the genre. They tried to say he made the best jazz album of all time. To say he's the best you'd have to ignore the best MCs of all time like Biggie, Lupe, Andre and so on.

He’s one of the few artists worthy of Mt Olympus status in the forefront of the mainstream , making him easy to praise

He’s not “the” greatest but he’s damn good at what he does
