Let’s be real. Odds are she was alive when he left

The last text sent by gabby was on the 30th. He arrived home the 1st. It would have taken him about a day and a half of non stop driving to get back.
The van they had had a little over 15 gallon fuel tank and with the outfitting they did to it, it was likely only getting MAYBE 20mpg AT BEST. This means he would have had to fuel up at a bare minimum over 10 times extending the trip time even more. Realistically it got worse MPG with the weight.
The FBI and police knows where the phone sent that text from. Let’s be clear. They know already, they have that info on phone records and where it pinged from. They are searching based on that info meaning the text was most likely sent from the park area. That’s the first thing they would look at.
This means there is an EXTREMELY narrow window of time when BL could have sent the text and then made it home by the 1st when accounting for speed and gas/food stops if he didn’t sleep at all. It didn’t appear the van had GPS so he would have been using a map (which would have made the trip longer) or his phone which means it would have been actively pinging meaning the police and FBI would know his approximate location.
The only possibility at this point is between the 27th-30th he killed her. Dumped the body. Sent the text on the 30th and INSTANTLY left. The problem with that is if the police could place BL in the same location as the text was sent, and that he left almost instantly, there would be more investigation into him.
The most likely situation at this point is the police have already seen the text from GP was sent when BL was already on the road. If his phone didn’t ping somehow they can see his credit card records and that he likely bought gas at a station further from when the text was sent. Either way, it seems more and more likely he wasn’t around when the text was sent. Also, not easy to schedule a text on iPhone.
