I don't think he knows what to release, or when to release. There's so much going on in hip hop right now, you have to be careful how you step. But judging from the Keem features, it looks like he's still tuned in. Won't lie, I'm worried for bro, such a long silence can be death for a lot of artists. To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand kendrick. The raps are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of the west coast rap culture most of the bars will go over a typical listener’s head. There's also kdot’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these raps, to realise that they're not just cool- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike kenny truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in his existential catchphrase "top o the mornin" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as lamar’s genius wit unfolds itself in their headphones. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
