The streaming era has had its down sides, but one of the good things is that it shows there's a market for pretty much any type of rapper. All the success Griselda has makes me think a lot of 2000s artist may have benefitted from streaming, and just releasing dope music without constantly trying to make something for radio.
The first artist/group that comes to mind is Dipset. I know they had radio hits, but I think they would've gone much further just putting out their brand of music in the streaming era.
Ludacris
Definitely. If he was just rappin to the level he always could, even without the same level hits I'm sure he'd have quite a few Gold albums in addition to the ones that went plat.
Compared to what 2000s artist was selling streaming would hurt them
I think financially it would still even out with touring, endorsements, etc.
Back in those days, you sell 90,000 first week and people acted like your career was over. In today's word, relevancy is more important than big first week sales, and also those projects are still liable to go gold or platinum with more time.
R.Kelly Trapped in the closet would have been an even bigger phenomenon if people could run it back on Spotify at the time.
Also I know he isn't a 00s rapper but Chief Keef would benefit a lot from streaming in his prime, when you look up how much Finally Rich did and how well I Don't Like did on the charts and compare it to how huge of a impact he had you can see that.
none, sales are down so much its very hard to get a multiplatinum album now.
If you were a singles artist tho you would benefit a lot.
Wayne, his mixtape run and illegal downloads at the time made him lose out on a lot of numbers that if he could have got counted legitimate would be the most streamed artist.

I really want him to have another run in the mainstream so bad
