I only notice a difference in popcorn if they over-salt it

That's entirely fair. But that's a nigh impossible metric to compare to if you're just making the popcorn you like

That being said, regal, but AMC is pretty close. The theatres that use "real butter" in some art house s*** always taste....I guess "milky" is the word?
