Dipset:

Blacks, Latinos, whites, Asians, Native Americans.. f***in Pacific Islanders, everybody was flying the Dipset flag. The Dipset era was a rare moment of unity no matter what your background was.

Dipset was the strongest force in the streets and the music industry from 2002-2005. You couldn't go aaaaanywhere in NY without seeing niggas wearing those Dipset eagle shirts. They didn't do the biggest numbers, mostly cause Africans had entire stands dedicated to slanging bootleg Dipset CDs.

Literal street gangs all across the USA named themselves Dipset. Even the legendary Fredo Santana was named after Juelz and from a Chicago gang named Dipset. There's still gangs, to this day, putting Dipset in their sets name.

Changed fashion forever. You wouldn't have niggas with rainbow dreads and pink durags on if Cam didn't break down the unspoken barriers of masculinity by unironically wearing pink and driving pink cars and s***. Juelz couldn't be found without wearing 6 pieces of wave-related headgear at once -- a durag under two wave caps and starched bandana and upside down headband + oversized hardwood classic fitted was what Santana would wear on a minimal day.

Every time Dipset got 'caught slippin' was on some coward 30v1 s***. Anytime the Dips got pressed in an evenly matched encounter, they came out victorious. Cam got shot and drove to the hospital in a Lamborghini and ended up bagging a nurse. Freekey got jumped by two niggas with gats, RAN OVER, and still managed to steal one of the robbers guns, put him in a chokehold, and used him as a human meatshield while the other nigga was shooting at him. That's some comic book superhero s***.

Put Tru Life and his band of Puerto Rican Taliban insurgents on suicide watch. Superthug Tru got his chain snatched dolo by Shiest Bub, never got it back, and retaliated by sending 28 Puerto Ricans to rob Agallah for his chain when he was alone. Agallah got his PCP chain back after someone from Tru's camp was kidnapped

Both members barely above 5 feet

Redman, who Mobb Deep dissed, ran up on Prodigy IN HIS OWN PROJECTS IN QUEENSBRIDGE and told him to step if there was a problem. Prodigy apologized.

Portrayed super thug image but were soft in reality.

As OP said, they were basically terrorized by Tru Life and braided up Puerto Ricans from LES for the better part of 00s and never did s***.

Got robbed for their jewelry during a video shoot. The jewelry ended up being costume jewelry

Half of this s*** isn't even true.

Dipset used to stay getting beat up and getting robbed all over NY. They couldn't do s*** to Tru Life neither. And he got all of them until he got locked up.

Two, P wasn't from QB. Havoc, Ty Nitty, Twin and Godfather were. That beef was with Keith Murray not Redman.

Jimmy and Juelz were never big sellers, even with their successful singles. Juelz has one Gold album, Jim has none. The peak success a dipset member had in terms of album sales was Cam during his Roc a Fella years.

Roc A Fella (Hov, State Property, Cam and Kanye) and G Unit were objectively the only 2 NY groups in the early 2000s that really had the game locked to that degree. Murder Inc. to a lesser degree (but Ja was the only hot rapper in the group, the rest of their success was from Ashanti)

A lot of the internet Dipset stannery today is retrospective stannery from people who missed out on that run imo.They did have the streets/hood on lock for sure, but anything beyond that is gas imo.

I remember I got called a hater because I said Juelz was supposed to be bigger, have a more successful career, and a longer run and he’s a bust when you consider what we got out of him vs what could have been.

I love Prime Juelz also but I have to keep it real, his career was a flop relative to his potential.

Considering his spots on Come Home With Me and Diplomatic Immunity 1 (even that peaked at Gold tbh), he was clearly the protege that was up next.

He was gaining momentum from 2005 forward, especially through his work with Chris Brown and Lil Wayne. That was the best chance for him to really show his worth bc What The Game's Been Missing went Gold. If he could've maybe had a follow up with stronger singles he might've gone Platinum.

Memphis Bleek has 3 Gold Albums even with him getting pushed to the back for better talent (Beans, Freeway, Kanye, etc.). It can't be hate to say Juelz didn't live up to his potential when a Weed Carrier considered the worst rapper oat was far more successful with less focus on him.
