Been debating on getting one of these. I love the sound of the 303 sm. It’s soo warm and the vinyl sim on the mk2 doesn’t seem to emulate the sounds exactly.

BUT the Mk2 capabilities and work flow seems flawless. Plus it’s also newer lol.

    Help me choose

Wait, are you talking about the 303 that was discontinued years ago? I think you’d be pretty limited given the out of date I/O. Depends on how much you need it to be a center part of your workflow imo. If you’ve got something else you can rely on as the brain and then this would essentially be a standalone external instrument, the 303’s probably fine if you really love the sound. If it’s going to be where you’re processing and making full arrangements, I think the 404’s a better call.

if you're just going to use it as an fx box, you can get the 303, but it's mad old and decently expensive to obtain rn (limited sample time, having to keep a buncha CF cards, etc)

if ur wanting to make beats using one, get the mkii

its 303 vinyl sim comes pretty close imo, and the workflow is a lot more intuitive and modern than the older sp's (has 4 fx buses instead of 1, waveform view and editing, chop mode, expandable memory, etc)

i used to use an SX+OG, now I use the mkii alone.

100% worth prioritising workflow rather than a “warmness” that youll eventually get over.
