MF DOOM, the man was deeply in love with syllables, felt like he was coming at Hip-Hop with an 80s-style approach where MCs would boast about having rhymes for days, I don't think there's better evidence for it than just how many of his verses are a series of unrelated two-bar schemes with inventive turns of phrase, he loved rapping for rapping's sake and I don't mean that in a bad way one bit

There's some good names mentioned so far.

So I'll just add Lupe. Before they fell out, Lupe and Royce were having very layered opinions on rapping on their podcast.

And Lupe himself is a very skilled lyricist and he even taught a course at MIT about rapping.
