If you want a chart with no radio look at rolling stones.
Didn't they announce they'd stop posting charts?

Article is paywalled, but BI is the source I guess
Restaurants, bathrooms, elevators, and public transportation. These pop artists wouldn't make it without it 🤣🤣
A lot of businesses use their own playlists so it’s even less things propping them up than you think
Industry hella fake
Yeah it's been happening for decades now and gets more blatantly obvious the more popular hip-hop gets... I wonder what the connection is? Is the industry racist? Can't be
I dont know what happened
Pop radio clearly played black hits back when usher/ciara/lil jon era
Its like a mandate was made that said "ok chill with all that black s***"
Didn't they announce they'd stop posting charts?
Oh fr? They literally just started lmao.
Wdym by blocking? Radio stations have always been genre specific so why would a pop station like Z100 play a Moneybagg Yo song
I think it's the fact rap songs will never get the same amount of radio as pop or rnb songs.

I feel like some stations kinda weirdly separate genres like the Grammy's with race.
There is a pop station in Houston that play generic pop songs, but when they have rap features they are cut out 100% of the time.
Even if the verse is clean.
Plus on the big top 40 stations, it takes forever for a rap song to finally get plays on the radio.
But they cool playing MJ or the weekend usually
Catchy pop songs are on the top of the charts and also some forgettable generic rap ones

They just fell off. And then it was just Drake.
They just fell off. And then it was just Drake.
In 2008, Mitt Romney's private equity firm bought iHeartMedia. Radio playlists across all genres but especially pop became steadily whiter from that point on. Bain saw pop as a predominantly white genre, and the era of Fergie, Alicia Keys, and Nelly Furtado gave way to the era of Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. Black artists trying to work in the pop space now faced an intense uphill battle getting exposure through radio. Rihanna was able to save her career by repositioning herself as a global artist, crafting dancehall and house influenced singles that felt just as at home on UK stations as American ones. Her global popularity gave her leverage against US radio's new corporate overlords and her career was saved.
Black artists were forced to adapt to industry politics

we’ve all seen it… trap beats make “certain” people uncomfortable
White pop singer who rode juice and bibby for clout.
I always thought he tried out being a soundcloud guy but failed to rally any attention from it
I remember when no jumper would plug him almost weekly
Serious question: how do we get rid of Payola?
Its not really payola. Its just pop music gets more radio plays than rap.

And fell off too. I feel like Drake replaced most of them while Rihanna and Beyoncé doninated the rest.
