    Lmao this country is cooked

A song against pedos and oligarch politicians but you guys are crying because it’s from a guy who is from the country side

Can’t believe we’ve reached cuckery levels of defending politicians and the status quo

Oh well, yet another reason why there’s no progress and why Americans have to beg online for healthcare donations

Is this song actually concerned about pedophilia and oligarchs

Or is it just feeding into the Q Anon psy-op that is meant to discredit criticisms of economic injustice and pedophilia amongst the rich by sensationalizing the topic at hand and somehow blaming democrats and republicans who don't like Donald Trump, the secret swamp draining freedom fighter, for this colossal systemic horror, thereby reflexively turning most people away from taking such claims seriously due to its association with Q Anon?

    I'm thinking the latter.

If you are chronically online and treat politics as a religion, yes, you might project your own political biases onto the song.

A few years ago left and right would’ve agreed, in light of Epstein, Dershowitz, Ghislaine, and prince andrew that pedophilia among the rich and influential is a problem

Unfortunately now it’s a conspiracy for some reason

Politicians probably laughing thier asses off at people crying their eyes out over a song about things most people would agree with in a politically neutral setting oh well lol

    The CIA created this problem

What connects them all? Economic privilege and political ideology.

And what is their preferred political ideology? Crypto-Fascism, which is, again, a right-wing ideology

I've been sellin' my soul, workin' all day
    Overtime hours for bullshit pay
So I can sit out here and waste my life away
Drag back home and drown my troubles away

It's a damn shame what the world's gotten to
For people like me and people like you
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true
But it is, oh, it is

    Livin' in the new world
    With an old soul
These rich men north of Richmond
Lord knows they all just wanna have total control
Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do
And they don't think you know, but I know that you do
'Cause your dollar ain't s*** and it's taxed to no end
'Cause of rich men north of Richmond

I wish politicians would look out for miners
And not just minors on an island somewhere
Lord, we got folks in the street, ain't got nothin' to eat
    And the obese milkin' welfare

    Well, God, if you're 5-foot-3 and you're 300 pounds
Taxes ought not to pay for your bags of fudge rounds
Young men are puttin' themselves six feet in the ground
'Cause all this damn country does is keep on kickin' them down

Lord, it's a damn shame what the world's gotten to
For people like me and people like you
Wish I could just wake up and it not be true

Can someone earnestly tell me what’s so bad about the lyrics here?

Overall good lyrics but the random dig at fat people is unnecessary

Doesn't ruin the songwriting, just is a bit silly

I'll peep this though, I like the overall message and stand corrected

    I listened to it

It was okay. A lot of the message is solid but the fatphobic dig was dumb and was going to get the libs all riled up and miss the far bigger and more important message, but if there's anything you can count on, it's the myopia of liberals

Boring musically but totally inoffensive. Mindblowing that this song is both this popular and controversial given that it's pretty tame in both respects, and in the case of the latter even fairly progressive by mainstream American pop standards lol.
