Reminds me of that Channel 5 video he did on that alcohol free beach town. All the white teen kids listened to was King Von
"they like 'neph why you keep mentioning lul tim'?
cause I wanna be like lul tim
jump outta nowhere like lul tim
kill for my homie like lul tim
why y'all wanna blame me like I'm lul tim?
malcolm x wish he was lul tim"
there's definitely people who overglamorize mac but i don't think that's the majority. i mean he really was a good ass dude who died for sad ass reasons, and he really did make good ass music that connected with people. most of that mourning is genuine.
tbh i haven't really seen a big narrative change for other ppl who OD tho. only ever seen love for fredo, yams, juice wrld, etc.
I feel ya but like not as much imo specially from white listeners or platforms imo
Like obv he was a chill guy and s*** I ain't got nothing against him but it's something I noticed
That it seems ppl do more to keep his character alive which is great but like for those u mentioned I c it less, whens the last time I even saw a post about Pop Smoke, compared to Mac I c one every week
have to say it: no self respecting (white) person is glamorizing king von
were you just not alive/not paying attention to 2019 hip hop or what
were you just not alive/not paying attention to 2019 hip hop or what
he too busy being white and having opinions on what "self-respecting" black people should be doing
i think its unhealthy to constantly be thinking about your perceived enemy. im not going to mince words here but it has become very clear over the past few years that nonwhite people simply do not like white people. we dont have to dance around that fact but what i dont understand is why ppl like OP feel like white people as a whole have this constant thought of violence towards nonwhite people or black people specifically. its just simply an untrue and very dangerous mindset to have when talking about a group of people. its certainly based on historical context but the average white person doesnt have daily thoughts of killing black people. thats just not true.
yes im white and ill probably be banned for this post but this sort of sentiment is just puzzling to me
i hope they ban you but not for this post, just for being very cringe in general
King Von was ass, anyone who listened to his music was not to be taken seriously unless they’re really like that

aye his verse on this tuff but otherwise his s*** was p forgettable
if you want a serious answer it’s because white people have no culture because to be white is to be cultureless. that’s what white supremacy does, it commodifies and homogenizes all peoples and cultures it destroys consumes and excretes. I know pale ass redhead ass blue eyed mfs that are not white because they are in touch with their ancestry and culture, where they came from before white supremacy flattened their unique identities into whiteness. bro’s grandfather was IRA fighting against colonial white forces, it would be disrespectful to call my irish nigga white. but yeah that’s basically why white people fetishize and crave black culture because their own cultures were destroyed and rendered unknowable to them via white supremacist capitalism
this is not typically what most folks think when they think of “whiteness” but that’s honestly what it is

i mean with all due respect to pop smoke mac just made more emotional music. it's hard to develop a deep emotional connection w pop smoke even if u fw him heavy right. but w mac his fans felt like they knew him personally.
mac being white very likely also plays a factor. but i dont think its just that yk
Nah. If you go on these internet spaces about these people it's mostly white kids. Black people already live it so we aren't interested
Lmao u dead wrong I know niggas who live like this
They love the drama of it they know who beefing wit who which niggas sneak dissin on ig
Cause they do the same thing on fb and ig

i swear u could ask anyone in north philly how many bodies von got n they'll start telling u names. ppl who think only white nerds get invested in that stuff are, ironically, often white nerds as well.

Hmm yeah that's also a very interesting point, could be that they related more or felt like a "friend" that suffered
Like to me, it's dope they do it but just more consistencies ya know
Same with d****, like white ppl speak so differently for Eminem his d*** abusive years compared to black hip hop artists
It's like the empathy doesn't empathy when it comes to black hip hop artists or for example Post Malone
this is it! you caught us! damn white people they figured us out we need to start hiding it better

idk not saying ur wrong but i haven't rly noticed that. never heard a white person talk about eminem's d*** use and i've never heard anyone talk down on a black artist for d*** use except random old heads talking s***.
and mac was a rly special artist too. like we have to account for the fact that he's an outlier. most artists never get close to the bond he had with his fans, so it doesn't really make sense to treat that as baseline empathy.
If u talk about deceased rappers, I always found Mac Miller being like over glamorized
He was talented for sure
But they only seem to mourn him in large groups
And sorta romanticize his d*** abuse
When there's so many rappers out there who had the same terrible faith
But then the narrative changes cause they black
Mac Miller was very instrumental to the underground and him dying is one of the main reasons why the underground is a s***show now lol
Feel like the equal amount that glamorize him also hate on him without even knowing how deep that niggas roots go and what he has done for the genre
Almost every rapper mainstream or not loves that boy for a reason
