  • I recently read the book civilization and barbarism by cheikh anta diop, a senegalese scholar. In this book the notion that ancient egyptians were Arabs is debunked. Instead they were more closely genetically related to ethiopians and their society possibly migrated from deep in southern africa

WEB du bois also expanded on this in “the world and africa” talking about how ancient Egyptian culture sprang solely out of african culture and therefore was not levantine instead of african

    This is common knowledge.

But then again I remember talking to an American conservative a decade ago and he was genuinely shocked that South Africa is a majority Black Country.

North Africans are some of the most racist people in the world. Gotta ignore them

Its not basic clearly cause the whites and arabs both lie and say the ancient Egyptians weren't african. Also the arabs in the region oppress the native nubian and sudanese people

Never heard anyone say the ancient Egyptians weren’t African

Like the first homosapiens were in Africa and Ancient Egypt is a cradle of civilization so naturally they’d be African

What literature on the topic have you read? I gave sources

  • I called in to Comcast once, the b**** told me she was speaking from the Middle East and said she was in Egypt

  • Egypt was a huge and diverse empire; I don’t think anyone with two brain cells actually contests that they were all Anglo Saxon European types. There’s a little more controversy around the pharaohs’ ethnicity though

Common sense unfortunately not that common

I’m not citing literature here I’m just putting together all that I’ve read about ancient history over the years

I’m saying that making sweeping characterizations of ancient Egypt is wildly ahistorical

“Ancient Egypt” wasnt a single civilization but rather a series of kingdoms and dynasties that spanned over 4000 years which drew from the Levant, Mediterranean, and African continent for its own cultural and social sensibilities .

You cannot make the claims that you do itt. Egypt was ruled from the Nile, was ruled from the Kushite capital, and was even ruled by the Greeks for centuries each.

The levantines weren’t ever Arab during any of the times of Ancient Egypt. “White” people did not exist conceptually. Modern ethnopolitics are not applicable to what you’re saying, and you’re not solving anything by pushing back against white supremacist misinformation with your own brand

I competed in the national history bee every year until I was 18 I can assure you that I’m well-read

You’re entirely misconstruing DuBois’ claims surrounding Egypt. His work was a pushback against the narratives that detached Egypt’s identity from Africa as a whole historical concept

That’s very different from what you’re typing, which is incorrectly claiming that Egypt’s culture is wholly based on Central African culture and therefore not related to the histories of Mediterranean societies

It’s just chauvinistic nonsense in the opposite direction
