When you are a teenager, you haven't really figured out your own self-identity, and therefore you start latching on to other stuff in order to mask that insecurity

Carti (up until now lmao) has always been a cult-symbol, he's always been a figure of style and in his early days he definitely cultivated a niche fashion audience. So as an impressionable youth, it makes sense to channel your own personality through him in order to obscure the mundane suburban background you actually come from

I also think Travis & Carti potentiate this kind of stuff with the anarchy at their shows, and the way in which the chaos of it picks up steam online - these kids turn up with the intention of one-upping the previous show/festival which is kinda sad, you should go because you love the music
