I think Mexiko Dro and Pierre put Carti on. I remember Carti starting to fw AWGE and thinking in real time that’s kinda weird he already is popping and he really only had broke Boi and maybe another song out and was already super hyped and he also was the first (or one of) artist of that sound before everyone start making music like that.

So I think that magnolia could have been the typical guerilla video of the time like broke boi and it still would have went and while all that fashion s*** may matter to his new fanbase lol I remember mexiko dro beat Carti and he really didn’t need all the weird extra s***.
