All we’re saying is that one good album did not cement his status in the industry. Birds is what did that.

    no

3500 and upper echelon were the biggest non antidote travis songs before birds, basically every rap fan bumped 3500 even if it wasn't a mega billboard hit, and upper echelon had a buzz from GTA lol

hits is crazy though, they were not billboard charters. travis was still going off of mixtape hype so you had to be sorta tapped in through yourself or others

A lot of hit songs back then didnt chart tho

I remember reading an interview him from 2019 he said he didn’t really want to make music anymore and cared more about fashion

That could be the truth but I felt like since 2021 at least he was trying to rekindle something

The better phrase to describe Don’t Play and Mamacita is “fan favorites”. They’re not hit records.

The average person has never heard either of those songs

Them songs, Skyfall, Sloppy Toppy along with No Label 2/YRN and Rich Gang led that new Atlanta sound, they were hits

he still built a crazy fanbase and blog coverage from it though

One good album isn’t cementing anyone.

Chance dropped three great projects and has been the laughing stock of rap for half a decade

I’m not saying he was cemented as a legend or anything. But when rodeo came out it showed he was the next guy.

Uzi and Carti were still coming up at that point.

  • Jan 2, 2024

Remember that uzi montreality interview with ken carson and destroy lonely? I could be reading him totally wrong but I felt like he wanted to be around that energy so bad lmao the interview was a bit weird to me

They weren’t. I think you think we’re saying “no one knows these songs” by saying they weren’t hits.

That’s not it. But there is a difference between a hit (Antidote, goosebumps, Sicko Mode) and what y’all are describing (Mamacita, Skyfall, Don’t Play)

trav was definitely an established act in the world of hip hop before birds. u could say he didn't reach mainstream pop success until birds but that's a different matter

Carti in a flow state rn

No ones denying that. But his spot in the game was not cemented until Birds.

    Mixtapes is cool.

One good album, anyone can get lucky and hit on that.

A second successful album is when you’re here to stay

  • Jan 2, 2024

Uzi is so talented though, he's an insanely skilled rapper, good melodies, he just is too all over the place and lives in the current trends too much, he should make music that's authentic to him.

This isn’t true because if Birds wasn’t good or successful it’s very possible Travis never becomes the Travis we know him to be now

no, canning OG EA because tyler's dumb ass didn't like it is what rlly started the downfall

doesn't matter anyway bc he came back w pink tape

He lets his fan base get in his head. He keeps trying to call back to older eras of either himself or others (barter 16 lol).

Also feel like he should’ve went way further into the Philly/jersey club s***

We need to shoot Tyler for forcing Uzi to have Wanya Morris’ kids singing all over EA
