ice cube known for movies and not rap anymore
cube surpassed chuck. G Rap and Kane get more respect.
Rakim was surpassed by Nas.
Nobody from the 80s is in the top 5 discussion anymore
shame people forgot the legends that invented the genre but if most people want their all time goats to have a late 90s early 2000s bias i guess thats cool
Besides the regular top 5 people have I’d definitely add Andre 3k and Big Boi to the conversation. Memes and YT-tier comments aside probably Lil Wayne too especially by influence, longevity, and prevalence.
Personally I think there’s an argument for mos def & Scarface to be in the conversation too (especially mos def) but I get they don’t really have the critical longevity In the mainstream as the others

I mean they did more. Nas took what rakim did and brought it to another level. Pac took what scarface did and influenced the world. Biggie surpassed Kane on day one with RTD and made street rap incredibly marketable. Jay and Em are given.
I'm sorry but no1 right now is checkin for them 80s rappers except maybe Cube and that's off the strength of him remaining relevant in the 90s. All them 80s rappers faded during the first half of the decade besides face and cube and them dudes resumes just dont measure.
