the original WHO guidelines around the virus literally said it was primarily a risk for gay men. i guess they're retracting that now? I don't understand why they can't just keep that messaging since it's literally true. If that's the case, this is the inverse of AIDS. The AIDS crisis happened because there was zero education among how it happened and resources diverted since it was primarily affecting the gay community and administrations didn't really care (among many other issues). The lack of handling then ended up inciting even more prejudice because it spread faster unrestrained. If something is primarily affecting that community, that community needs to know what issues exist there. Not acknowledging or trying to universalize it is ridiculous and going to cause the actual people at risk way more harm
