I think Travis got his sound from Cudi’s “just what I am”. Travis flow is literally the same template that Cudi uses on that song to this day.

That isn’t a bad thing though, artist use other artists sounds, build and expand it.

That’s the beautiful thing about music. Is it biting? I wouldn’t say necessarily if you can turn it into your own sound.

Travis singing especially in his earlier work is him riffing off the style of 808s & heartbreak, and the hums and moans were stolen from cudi

His most popular adlibs were stolen from Thug and Big Sean

    Future
    Kanye

Nigga stop playin. You just being stubborn. Drake expanding some Kanye ideas and using the hashtag flow like the rest of the rap game did is not the same at all

Bro you brought up 808’s which is the album most people acknowledge as birthing drake. He also stole bits from those other artists as well. But somehow travis is the only one that gets called out lol

Kanye and Cudi the obvious ones

but I also think that his Future influence goes waaay too under the radar. I definitley hear Future in a lot of his vocals especially in Rodeo and DBR

I can see this, Cudi really started that whole "spaced out vibe" while Travis just kept using it

I feel like that's unfair to say, he built off that s*** and evolved it in ways Cudi never did and maybe never could

    Currently? No one.

In the beginning of his career he was def very influenced by Cudi and Kanye.

But overtime, he def developed his own style blending a bunch of different sounds.

I don't know how anyone can say that the whole dark ambient autotuned melodic trap isn't 100% Travis style.

If anything people are biting him.

It's so weird how this site turned on this dude after Astroworld blew up lol. Just weird behavior

    He bit Cudi’s whole s***

At this point Cudi does bite him. It’s such a weird shift. Travis in his early days was for sure influenced by Cudi, Kanye and a bunch of Atlanta based rappers. But, he found his own lane. Now he is one of the most bitten rappers ever. Tons of people try to copy him in rap and R&B.

he was a Kanye/Cudi/Bon Iver knockoff his first few years, but that’s normal for a new artist

when he started blowing up with DBR, he started biting the entire New Atlanta scene, including Migos, Thug, and RHQ, and he still works closely with their producers to keep trying to mimic their sound

from Antidote on, he also bit Swae Lee pretty hard

toss in Starrah’s style since she wrote so many of his verses around 2016

he & Quavo developed a give & take relationship around Birds era which became unbearable by the time HJJH came out

nowadays though, all the artists he bit combined into one Travis Scott is a distinguishable style that others copy

wasn't Sloppy Toppy New Atlanta? How was he biting from that point onward when that song was apart of the whole New Atlanta sound?

I feel like this is a constant argument about why Travis is a "trash rapper", people say this alot. But who does he exactly bite? Is he really this much of a manufactured artist?

He's just a diet Cudi and early 2010's Kanye hybrid with some trap elements thrown in the mix, ideally packaged for your local teenage hypebeasts who lose their mind over "sanics" and "aesthetics", and basically fantasize about the carefree d*** fueled womanizing party animal lifestyle that his team sells.

They want to be Travis. The shy guy who idolized the same rappers they did and now hangs out with Kardashians.

Travis is not a multilayered artist. Kanye and Cudi show you the highs and the lows. The pain and the hangover.

Meanwhile Travis doesn't stand for anything, his personality is dry, his songs have no substance or meaning and he's a mediocre rapper who hides behind production and vocal effects.

There's no emotion in his voice, he doesn't address his internal struggles, relationships in a captivating/original way.. he's basically a bot.

His fans go crazy over Mike Dean's instruments (a progressive rock band member from the 1970's).
