OP knew damn well what they were about to cause making this thread, straight up instigator LMAO
I will forever give props to Abel for blocking HLB from #1 that was an extraordinary feat
Quality wise I prefer Weeknd decade overall. Drake didn't drop anything after 2015 that topped his 2009/2015 run tbh
10/10 bait thread op well laid out
Serious thread lol. Cant see those numbers and think its not close. Numbers so much closer than I thought they would. And Weeknd makes better music so its probably Weeknd
Y'all complaining about this thread but have no problem with Kanye vs Drake threads every. single. day?
Y'all pick and choose the weaker opponents just like Aubrey huh?

He a lame for that ngl
I will forever give props to Abel for blocking HLB from #1 that was an extraordinary feat
Not really lol
Drake released the video on AM exclusively so he tanked himself tbh
Plus abel released two remixes with eminem and nicki minaj plus a music video for both remixes
The Weeknd commercial decade started in 2014/15... Easily Drake
Which is why it's interesting to see how close it really is
Musically and artistically I prefer the weekend. He's always trying to push it forward and experiment.
Weeknd is a lot more likable. I agree with the "high highs" comment. He did have some weak content throughout BBTM and Starboy, and some forgettable features and throwaway tunes, but overall great showing. 'After Hours,' 'Kiss Land,' 'Trilogy' and parts of BBTM are some of the best albums of the decade, easily.
But I will give Drake credit. Between all his work with OZ, as well as More Life, Drake's showing in the last half of 2020 wasn't that bad. 'Scorpion' and 'Views' aren't as bad as people make them out to be either. And Take Care, NWTS and 'If You're Reading' are all great too.
I will give it to Weeknd just because I think he has something special to him that Drake just doesn't really have. Drake is just too focused on pedestrian and material things, and since like 2013 or so, I really don't hear that magic to his sound or voice. It sounds like he's really not in love with the process of making music. There just seems to be something so internally divided and borderline insincere about Drake at this point... his whole fetishization of trophies, sports culture and branding is just cheesy and hard to relate to for me.
Weeknd's love of movies, his "characters" / "eras" / "chapters," etc. is also kind of cheesy but it's somehow much more relatable to me. He definitely has his faults but I give him a lot of credit. Plus kudos to him for not jumping extensively on the dumbed-down trap bandwagon of the last five years, like Drake, Future, Travis Scott, and almost every other male rap or R&B-adjacent artist has done at this point.
obviously drake, people only know like 5 weeknd songs
Drake ain’t popping outside the us tho, The Weeknd is way more known worldwide and not just to the us

Lmao no he is not. Stop the cap Drake outcharts and outsells the weeknd in nearly every other territory
Which is why it's interesting to see how close it really is
Lmao its not even close commercially. Drake literally runs circles around the weekn numbers wise when it comes to albums/singles/charts
