Two Saviors - Buck Meek
Easy listen but seeps through to tug the heart strings. Quite a triumphant showcase of song writing and vulnerability given its his first solo since breaking up with Adrianne Lenker, and its hard to not cheer both of them on with an equal amount of humanist fervor. Last track on here makes me cry like a baby
Entertainment, Death - Spirit of the beehive
Accessible but intricate. Indie rock album with heavy hip hop sampling influences and modulation toyings. A loooot of ear candy on this
Beyond the Yellow Haze - Emeka Ogboh
Audio portrait of Lagos fusing the desolateness of Burial with field recordings, city sound bites, and expert use of percussion to put forth some of the most intriguing electronic sound design I've heard in a very long time
Sound Ancestors - Madlib
Nothing but consistency. Got more PR than other stuff bc of four tet curation but its just another classic like the rest of them. more polished mixing is maybe the slightest of difference? no big deal right?
Black to the Future - Sons of Kemet
Honestly still sinking my teeth into this one but confident enough in the band and its direction to know that it's going to be one I will continue to revisit with continued intrigue
