Insane how Old Town Road is the longest lasting rap song to ever hold the #1 spot
Song is so mid
this why i don’t understand convo about sales.
i guess it’s like talking about sports, it’s competition, but it’s a s***ty form of competition in my eyes
maybe i’m just a hatin ass nigga tho
How exactly? There are a lot of albums who can achieve diamond range just from single sales alone. How is that different from over 20 years ago? Single sales count towards Single certification and album certification. That’s just messed up.
its way harder to go multiplatinum now then it was pre streaming.

Yes, because people ain‘t listening to albums like they used to. Wouldn’t it make more sense to just certify singles instead of artificially raising the importance of albums? A f***ing top20 peaking song can go diamond, why certifying the accompanied album that has maybe 50k sales and no other gold/plat songs?

single sales/streams count as album sales wym lol.
lets say an album has 1000 streams all 1000 could come from one song or be spread out
for RIAA 1500 song streams is 1 album sales which is why its way harder now for albums to go multiplatinum.
however its way easier for singles to go multiplatinum
