More people know who Beyoncé is but more people listen to Drakes music than Beyoncé’s.
Drake is definitely an icon, even if not in an MJ/Beyonce type way. Also I don't wanna sound like I'm doing mental gymnastics but there's two very real reasons for what you're saying and the glaring disparity between how the hip-hop community/youth views him and how the public outside of that views him:
he’s famous for abandoning his child
Beyonce's fans are 17 years in and she'll still go #1 on Billboard 200 from actual pure sales. Bey's Lemonade sold 485k in pure sales first week. Drake's last studio album Scorpion sold 160k in pure sales. Pure sales might actually be more important metric as it shows that more people are willing to go out and buy Bey's music ieven if they could've gone to Tidal for a free-trial and listen to the album that way. It was also the best selling album of 2016 selling over 2.5 million and has sold over 2 million pure sales in the US while Drake's Scorpion has yet to hit 1 million. Streaming is the new big thing but pure sales shows that people are a bit more interested if they will buy it and not just repeatedly listen for free, or a reduced price that covers all.
We all know OP just ried to start a stan wars too
Bro you are comparing albums in two diff sales climates
That same year 2016 drake sold 850k pure first week

i know. i was just trying to use their most recent studio albums. it wasn't the best matchup tbh but we did have an actual european speak so...

Damn you beat me to it. Can't compare pure sales in 2016 to 2018
i'm just saying it must show how much fans are willing to buy vs listen for free. i don't hate streaming i stream music myself. i'm just saying that the fact that people are willing to spend money on one vs listen to the other for a price that includes all or for free shows something about the artist's fans.
plus this is about worldwide fanbases. Drake has a international fanbase, but not to the extent of Beyonce's. she seems to have a much larger international fanbase than Drake which is what the question was about. other fonts brought up sales and stats and tours, i just continued the already relevant conversation at hand
Not really
It just shows that some people are still not technologically up to date
Thats like using dvd sales vs netflix streams

These days it can also indicate how many hipster music snobs they have in their fanbase. Kendrick and Frank sell hella vinyls.

so if i buy a digital copy of my fave artist i'm not up to date? it could also just be that she has an older fanbase than him. they are nowhere near peers as she debuted in 2003 and he debut in 2009

both are equally important tbh. some artists don't get the streaming support but do sale a lot more in pure sales and vice versa.

That means nothing lmao
Drake literally did 6 nights at the O2
He def has a huge following in europe

Vinyls are probably even more important than digital album sales because you double dip. If you buy an album digitally that's going to be the copy you listen to instead of streaming. But with vinyls you get a pure sale and the person's streams

all i said in that post was that we had an actual european speak. was anything wrong with what i said? he said that he is not worshipped there as much as we would assume as a european himself. if he said the opposite, i would have said oh ok then I guess he has a bigger international following than her. i'm just tryna go based off of what a regular common person himself said, not the media, or stans as we tend to over exaggerate one artist to pull down another sometimes.

Boy Meets World Tour did eight shows at the O2
But I think rappers in general struggle a lot more outside of English speaking countries than singers do just by the nature of their artforms. 19/34 shows on that tour were in the UK

One person's experience doesn't mean much tbh. My neighbor from Paris didn't know who Drake was even though she lived in the city the same time Drake did 3 nights in an arena there. You take either of those things by themselves and you can create a narrative that either nobody there knows Drake or that he's one of the most popular artists.

that's true. one size never fits all
What'd he say
lmao. well, one got boo'd after being a suprise guest at a music festival during the peak of their career and that's never happened to the other one, even as they slowly decline so...
did i just read that beyoncé hasn't been irrelevant in years
when she had the #1 song in the country a couple weeks ago?
edit: the answer is bey

yeah I'm sure this dude would've been real excited to see beyonce instead of frank

i'm just saying, IDK how that happened if Drake is one of the biggest stars in the world. I never would have imagined that. I can't think of a best selling artist on his level ever being boo'd like that. The least they could have done was just not cheer. Like that was pretty rude imo. But again, if it was any other circumstance, tbh I still can't see it. He should have gotten at least silence if they weren't gonna cheer

Yeah I'm sure Beyonce would get silence and not boos if she came out to Formation at a country music festival
Beyonce and Michael Jackson are names even those in remote areas of the world know

lmao not a country music festival
but she did get a lot of flack for being at the CMAs that year. IDK i just don't even see him getting boo'd off any stage or anyone else on that top tier level either. it's still odd no matter what
