also, another aspect that contributes to this is country music growing in urban areas. the stereotype that its all for rural people in "bumfuck nowhere" is not as true as it used to be even though the music itself still plays to that stereotype.

that, plus it finally caught up to other genres as a streaming force with the young demographic

in a lot of ways country music has replaced (and merged with) the role of rock music. this is mostly true for white people ofc but even that is slowly changing too
