onedeepI had to look this up but he gave Cowboy Carter an 8. I know he doesn't like Taylor Swift albums, but neither does Pitchfork generally, and nobody would dispute them being a poptimist publication. Brat was his top album of 2024.
He'd been reviewing Charli and PC Music people for years and years. Her breakout year came in her 30s.
Poptimism isn't just liking pop music. He doesn't just review the most popular stuff. If anything, he prides himself on being eclectic. The gworl power stuff is just part of that diversity.

Fantano sowed the seeds for a kind of music zombie who only follows the “right” opinion. It wasn’t just him, sites like RYM and reddit are also to blame. this population of music zombies was allowed to grow and fester in corners of the internet too lame for anyone with taste to visit, and it soon became a behemoth. it was this half-slumbering mass of mindless goons that would eventually decide the outcome of kendrick and drake’s beef. Seeing as these zombies were dangerously over represented within the tweetdecker/reddit mod caste, they held an unprecedented amount of power as tastemakers for the unwashed masses.
