Now on paper one would say Nicki "duh"
But honestly if you look at the current landscape of female rap.
It is almost all tied back to Cardi B. She is the origin. Shoot female rappers wasnt even getting deals until Cardi broke the door down.
Cardi pioneered on an industry opportunity breakthrough level; now the conditions are present for female rappers to break through at a pace we’d never previously seen
Even then tho, every female rapper to break through in this period has been influenced by Nicki in some overt way whether it be in their fashion, visuals, personality or actual music. And that’s been the one constant: everyone still emulates Nicki regardless
Nicki more influential but Cardi really is the one who got the wave started
I think she gave a blueprint that was easier to follow

How’s it tied to Cardi not Nicki?
Nicki was rapping for years but really never crafted a unique sound. Not too many clones so she's like J Cole or Kendrick in that regard. Cardi is more of a Drake, as soon as she came out she was the blueprint and had many copycats trying to replicate her. Now I'd say a lot of more female rappers are looking back at rap to stand out so Nicki's discography as well as many others that came before both of them is being revisited. But I wouldn't say she was the pioneer that Cardi is if it's between these two
And to add to what I said above Nicki sort of shot herself in the foot by trying to outshine every female rapper that came up
She wouldn't work with Iggy or Kreayshawn and only let Dej Loaf open up on some Pinkprint dates but not collab
She was reluctant to even work with Cardi but there was no denying she was scared of losing her spot and had to play big sis before it was too late
Cardi was open to working with her peers and provide opportunities for them so her influence was felt while Nicki was afraid to share hers and that's why looking back she didn't leave a mark in that era

Nicki even had male rappers jacking her style though.
That’s not bc of Cardi it’s just timing. It has more to do with social media and now IG thots can try rapping bc they have a platform to be discovered and pushed the same way male youtubers or whatever are rapping more.
And the already-known female rappers like Latto and Meg are maintaining their popularity as glorified IG models.
But Nicki showed labels it’s even worth it to sign a girl to be a huge big 3 level rap star as a female not just a Lil Kim. She was at Grammys sitting with pop stars doing crossover records and s*** and actually OUTLASTED those Katy Perrys and Pinks before Cardi B was even a thing
How’s it tied to Cardi not Nicki?
Cardi is even tied to Nicki so this whole thread doesnt make sense.
Nicki
All these female rappers wanna be her it all started with her it will end with her
Shout out cardi to tho she did her thing to
