Fans & critics love him if you're a hip hop head. He's respected by everyone except like maybe the Gen Z folks that are 14-20 years old. But he is widely known i'd say.

How old are your friends? And I guess it depends on the type of underground rap you listen to. Cuz someone can listen to G-Unit or Dipset & not know who Doom is. Cuz you know there are levels to the rap s***.
