Just off of that plus drought 3 he’s a legend. And I think C3 is pretty bad

but rap is not about that at all. I mean yeah it is amazing you know but to me I guess it isn't what is pushing the culture forward you know not culture but like rap in general.

wayne's image at the time with his tattoos, double cup, leaned out voice + unconventional flows and in general wordplay, is something that rappers today literally copy and interpolate into their own music. look at Uzi and Carti for the most obvious of examples (they aren't 1 to 1 clones or copies, but Wayne influenced them stemming from that era is what im trying to say)

all, if not most, of wayne's influence stems from his Tha Carter III era. around that time he started experimenting with autotune that pretty much no one else was doing on songs such as Me And My Drank (which i would argue was probably one of the earliest forms of emo soundcloud rap that would become prominent around 2014)

Lollipop within itself was very ahead of its time with the cloudy synth beat and overall laid back nature of the beat, i'd honestly argue that it was prototypical cloud rap in a sense.

(let me also say, i am not saying that wayne invented cloud rap or emo rap, but he definitely at the very least aided in it's development and helped popularize it, same with lean)

hell, kendrick even remixed the entire album itself as a sort of homage to the dude

people paid homage to it again on it's tenth anniversary as well iirc

that isn't even really getting into the bulk of the C3 sessions and the era itself, in rough summation lots of the songs on there were ahead of their time, and wayne's image around C3 era was influential to lots of rap artists to this day, influence is an indisputable marker of greatness across all genres, and wayne is among most of the influential of them all by far, if you don't like the album or his music cool, but he's definitely a legend whether you like it or not.
