If being reductive is your coping mechanism for having shallow knowledge of music, then stop it because you’re embarrassing yourself.
There are nuances to all the genres you’ve mentioned. After Hours doesn’t have the same Glass Table Girls sound that he had on Trilogy, he’s already evolved from that. Nor does it have the same 80s synth, new wave, rock sound you’re talking about.
There are nuances to simp synth and 80s synth, the same way there are nuances to Dark R&B and R&B. You’re an idiot for trying to box The Weeknd into one genre.

They inspired him to create a new genre of music. That’s literally how new genres are formed. By taking existing genres and evolving them. Those guys weren’t making SIMP SYNTH songs like After Hours or Until I Bleed Out my guy.
