I love 50 but this nigga used to clown respected rappers with less sales like The Lox, Nas, Camron, Fat Joe, etc. then brag about "killing" their careers.
Even in 2014, he clowned Ross's sales when his own s*** flopped that same year.

Of course sales have always been talked about, but they didnt take over until recently. Now, sales is the only talking point. You can't say "this album is a classic" now a days without bringing up numbers. KTT is the perfect example of this evolution. Early 2010s Pitchfork and reviews were the bible on KTT. Nobody talked about sales when MBDTF, WTT, Yeezus dropped(i'm not saying literally, I'm talking in general. 15% sales talk at most). Now a days? Nobody ever mentions reviews anymore. And if you talk about the music's quality, somebody will be quick to bring up sales and numbers to dispute you. Its 85% about sales now. Even amongst my friends IRL sales is brought up much more now. Social media highlights sales and its easier than ever to follow numbers with each streaming service having charts and charts social media pages etc.. Its created a monster where sales are the end all be all.
False , all Kendrick fans do is talk about his critic reviews . How else do you think I know his albums has high ratings or that he won a Pulitzer?

A lot of s*** you heard in the streets rap wise was not on billboard at all lol. Everything was way more genuine and iykyk back then. I remember walking in a barbershop as a kid and my barber was bumping One Night Only by Wayne loud af,shit blew my mind
