Feel like TPain was as far as hip hop goes and then Akon was more of a pop star but he was killing it overall

T-Pain was way bigger but Akon was doing his thing too.

Akon more of an early to mid 2000s artist that still had some hits in the late 2000s while T-Pain was bigger in the late 2000s

Edit: I'm wrong they had a lot more overlap than I remembered but Akon jumped out earlier with Locked Up so it feels like he was around way earlier than T-Pain

Akon also helped put on Lady Gaga.

Like allot of people said so far one was more so the hip hop side while the other was pop

Both really did allot of the same stuff whether it be producing, being featured everywhere, falling off….lol

I’m heavily biased with T-Pain so I’m naturally going with him.
I could argue that he influenced the entire state of music in an indirect way, and I just have a gut feeling he did more features or has more hits than Akon but

I’d say Buy U A Drank, Bartender, I’m Sprung and I’m N Luv alone s*** on akons hits

  • Mid-late 2000s? T-pain

    This
But if we including producing and writing for others, TPain edges

  • Might be a hot take, but I always kinda felt like Akon fell off after his first project (quality wise).

T Pain gave us Epiphany and Three Ringz in the mid-late 2000s

  • Akon had the better songs and is the better artist, but T Pains hooks are more iconic.

Akon’s worldwide presence in the 2010’s is insane tho
