Also have to give a little more credence to thug because keef was literally the hottest thing in music. So it was cool to want to be like him. Thug having this much influence after everyone called him gay for years is insane.
Keef was the most hated artist in 2012, he was considered the embodiment of everything bad in society, which was weird because he was 16

That’s not true, yes old heads had a bone wit keef but he was hot wit the youth in a way thug never was. People were just not f***in wit thug like they were keef.
Keef was/is more influential but its kind of hard to compare em. They are both really influential and i think artists will have a bit of them in their dna going forward. Keef does seem to be the more enduring one tho. Thug still tha goat tho.

Nah you have to remember that Chief Keef came out in the backpack rippty rap era, he was the only nigga doing super street raps, there was Future but people saw him as a pop singer
He basically was considered the embodiment of violence and everything low down and dirty if you listened miggas was looking at you sideways like YoungBoy listener stereotype but 10x worse, since he was the only one, listening to Keef in public you’d be subject ridicule but hood niggas didn’t care
Even listening to Gucci was considered deplorable and low because he was too street, rap listeners were mad bougie back then
Can someone explain how influential Keef was? Wasn’t too Much into drill back in the day
How It Go and Love No Thotties come to mind as specific influences on Uzi's sound
thug. lil baby, gunna, massive artists directly influenced then a bunch of nba young boy, roddy, etc rappers at least partly influenced....
Sosa’s influence took longer to show up and ran deeper but Thug still to this day has artists trying to clone his exact sound. I’d say Sosa technically had a bigger impact but Thugs impact literally generated many careers around him from this trying to be his sons/clones
Keef definitely had 2014-2017 (Famous Dex, Uno, Carti , Fauni, as well most of the XXL class of 17 and 18)
Thug did spawn many kids over the past 3 years tho
wild how all of them started as Keef kids and now all sound like Thug kids
