I was on dat piff while your mommy was still changing your diapers young blood

You could always tell what mixtapes were good because they had dope covers. That one was obviously from somebody who cared. Listened and confirmed.

Rarely did a mixtape have a photoshop cover and good music

    Ive been a fan of:

Travis when he released Love Sick

    Rocky since Peso

    Cole before The Come Up

    Drake before SFG

Thug when he first dropped 2 cups stuffed

Kid Cudi when he had like 2 songs out

Frank Ocean when he just dropped nostalgia ultra

Weeknd when he had just released HOB

Wiz Khalifa when he dropped BAR

A ton other artists too coz I was deep into this rap s*** 10+ years ago when all these artists started poppin up

    lets hear it.

tbh the only person i can claim day 1 status is Rico Nasty. who remembers the iCarly video?

I've since stepped away from it but I used to be a very active person on Twitter 5-7 years ago. I focused almost exclusively on hip-hop and R&B. I only had 5-6,000 followers but I was averaging 50-60 retweets per tweet and had a few tweets crack 1000+. This gave me a few opportunities - I had the chance to do s*** like talk to Just Blaze, get free concert tickets, give away albums (Big Sean's debut amongst others). Management and teams for up-and-coming artists would DM me asking me to review their mixtapes or tell people to check them out.

Around this time, I also had a few A&Rs reach out, acknowledge what I was doing, and then offer me interviews/jobs. When they found out I was 15-17 at the time though, that killed any meaningful opportunities for me. That said, they would often send me gift cards and s*** to download music, show that I was "supporting" the artists, and that I should promote them. Drake's debut was around the start of these opportunities for me, and there was serious talk about him doing 650-750,000+ on his debut. Some people said he might crack a million - it really was the most hyped debut since 50, arguably Snoop. Drake was afford a pretty nice rollout accordingly. One of the younger A&Rs over at Motown knew I was a fan and got me in touch with the guy overseeing the street rollout for Sauga, Oshawa, and I believe Ottawa. If I remember correctly, it was about a week before the album came out that we got together with 15 others and put up Drake's TML cover posters all over the city. We also had copies of TML to give away.

I started university September the year after TML dropped, and balancing uni and the twitter stuff was a massive hassle. I was still too young to land an internship so I said f*** it, and quit.

Now I s*** post on KTT.

    What a time.
