Honestly, it can go either way.

Jay has an amazing career with longevity, sales, hits, influence, Roc Nation/Roc A Fella, marriage with Beyonce, etc. and he's widely considered to be a top 5 DOA rapper across the board.

Drake has the hits, global popularity, and streams on his side but Drake isn't seen as a rapper's rapper like Jay, Nas, Pac, Em, Kendrick, and the like. He's seen as more of a crossover rapper which might impact how he's regarded in hip hop down the line.

Also, while both have inconsistent discographies, Jay's highs of Blueprint, RD, Black Album, 4:44, and AG are better staples in hip hop culture than Drake's best projects: Take Care, NWTS, SFG, IYRTITL, and More Life. Drake is less critically acclaimed than Jay on average so I think that might affect how the music world regards both of them over time.

It really depends. I think it's easy to say "Drake" right now cause of the time we're in but a lot of Drake's claim to popularity are slowly getting surpassed by other artists like Bad Bunny, The Weeknd, etc. And I don't really see Drake getting back to 2016-2018 levels of crossover/global smashes anymore. His hits have been more moderate successes in recent years.

And Kendrick is still seen as a better rapper than Drake by the masses even today.

    Who knows? Who knows?

  • All them 40-60 year olds that stan Jay are now just the 18-30 year olds that stan Drake now lol

Jay Z. He’s attached to Beyoncé for the rest of his life. So there’s that.

I dunno. I think we have to wait until Jay drops his next album to be certain.

Jay stopped the world over one verse on a DJ Khaled album.

Jay trashed his relevance with Gen Z by blocking his album from every streaming site except Tidal for years

  • Jul 15, 2023

Jay-Z threw his own exhibition because he was scared he was being forgotten

True but Jay put it back on Spotify recently and he currently has over 35 million monthly listeners which isn't bad for a 50+ rapper at all.

Jay will be more loved from hip-hop fans meanwhile Drake will be more loved like a pop culture icon.

    probably

at least in hip hop Drake will always have a bunch of asterisks attached to him

that being said Drake does so much more in music

  • Jul 15, 2023

Thinking seriously 100 years from now, probably Jay Z for the business side of things since he built a crazy legacy for himself/his people

Drake would be more known culturally, though I'm not 100% sure if it would be necessarily for his music.

  • A Mad Ass Nigga
