it might be cool if you made a thread talking about the differences between rap, and pop-rap cause i think its a pretty interesting subject that hasnt been fully explored on here

I can't make threads. I think the core difference is: who can write three 16s, not sing on the hook, and make a good song. Bars over melody. The more times you do that, the better rapper you are. You might be a good singer, a good songwriter (from a structural standpoint), but rap is not the same thing.

Kanye not a B side artist, if it's on the album it's top notch.

there's plenty more but damn, jay-z got too many b sides. both have very strong b sides. but jay just got so many classics that rap heads will be bias towards. I think hov wins.

A lot of these are popular & major tracks from both of them & to their respective projects, how are some them B Sides?

  • Dec 11, 2021

I dont know what B Side means anymore in this context s*** nor the context of Jays B Sides concert nor the actual meaning of B Sides this s*** makes no sense what yall are posting.

B sides refers to old vinyl records. They would have the hits and singles on side A and the other joints on the “b side”

So not necessarily deep cut but a song that isnt a single or one the casual listener may not know.

Sorry man, I grew up and listen to rap. I know it's different for pop artists like Kanye, but then why compare the two?

If you "grew up" listening to rap, you would know Kanye isn't just a pop artist. He was already a legend as a producer before his first album.

Now we're comparing a producer to a rapper? lol

He called Kanye just a "pop artist" and compared him to Drake. Kanye's production skills are why he doesn't have peers. His music is transcendent.

Kanye also has legit bars/schemes a good amount & great themes/stories as well

Especially CD, LR, MBDTF, WTT & Good Fridays

Lost in the world can’t be a B side imo because he’s performed that live multiple times. But f*** it’s so epic

I would consider anything not a single to be a B-side tbh, maybe not a B-side if it got a video but that's a stretch
