I haven’t done too much research into it but I’m seeing certifications get mad traction lately
Has anyone gotten a certification and scored a job off of completion of it w/ no actual experience? Which certification?
you need to network with them in order for them to work.
honestly your networking becomes more essential.
-someone who's gotten a job through networking this year but has to compete certifications by the end of the year
I'm getting a python certification for s***s and giggles so idk. But I figure if I want to get entry level in the tech field that might help. I have a bachelor's but it's unrelated

what field?
if IT you can get into helpdesk with just the A+. anything else above that they’re gonna want to see experience.
the google certs are a pretty good value
especially if you have no experience
i completed the IT joint over quarantine just to see if the course was good or not
it's pretty solid and i've had multiple companies reach out to me since completing it
i completed it within the trial
period so it cost me nothing
Are you talking about entry level certs such as CCNA or Compton A+?
Or are you talking about more specialized certs?

Specialized like Google cloud / Azure / Cisco / Python

Def IT certs sorry that I wasn’t more clear
Cisco certifications can get you legit paid if you certain ones
Good job with python bro
I’ve heard about the Cisco ones
My old job we used to work a lot with Cisco stuff I had coworkers tell me about certifications for them

There isn't a specific python certification as far as I know. There's courses and the like but not a formally recognised certification.
Stuff like Azure, AWS, Cisco etc. for one can be very expensive to do, normally you would want your company to pay. And two, just very difficult to do without existing knowledge and experience. Three, unlikely to lead to a job just off the back of the certification alone.

My experience, if helpful:
Last summer I got an A+ and N+ with the intention of getting a helpdesk or similar position, gaining experience while pursuing further certs like AWS (associate trio), S+, potentially the CCNA.
I had no IT experience and had been in a completely different field of work (and one quite easily dismissed/disrespected) for the last 3/4 years before making the career change. And was unemployed during a pandemic of course.
Recently I took a position as business a***yst. While the A+ and N+ didn't directly lead to me getting the position, it at least helped me show that I was motivated to learn and was keeping busy. Also came in handy during some technical interview questions. But networking mainly helped me get the interview.
I did receive a few interviews from the A+ and N+ for helpdesk type positions, but I was always told they required more experience. I am in the UK though, my understanding is they are more sought after in the US, not to mention there's simply more job opportunities and more tech-literacy out there in valuing these types of certifications above university/college degrees.
In my research though, I have seen plenty of people kickstart their IT careers pretty swiftly after getting these types of certifications. And some rare occasions of people going straight for AWS, Azure, or even just independently learning coding quickly and getting a decent job. Though it was rare.
Get those Azure and AWS certs. The cloud is the future
100% OP
But sadly the certifications alone are unlikely to cut it as far I understand.

Yeah that’s a common misconception with all Certs in IT.
Imo, associates/bachelors + industry experience + certs is your best bet to be the perfect IT candidate.
In addition to Certs, also look into IT workshops in your area/city. Some are partnered with employers that hire directly from the workshop.
