How exactly does a smart contract cut out the middleman l, in this case the streaming platform , when they’re the ones that still determine the clause, be it in code or written form
open sea still has a service fee they can increase at will

i would assume @op argument doesn’t include those types of services

anyone involved in a creation can automatically receive revenue splits for every stream and less disputes about not receiving the proper pay. Labels can still do what they do and it'll actually be easier for them not having to do the work that's automated now like having to have someone call up 25 people for sample clearances. all percentages and contracts will be transparent in code that executes on the blockchain to automatically pay people so less disputes with artists. Not sure if I answered what you're specifically thinking

but ideally labels can be completely shut out because they’re completely useless to the system now and are nothing but boomer era parasites. i think some ppl think of labels as an inevitability but they and really the music industry as it exists today really hasn’t been around that long and could absolutely change into something that doesn’t resemble anything we’ve ever seen. hell I think that’s already inevitable and they’re just kicking and screaming on their way to inevitable demise

no one using that scam site u shilling for

most signed artists use official sites by label to sell merch.

repeat streams tend to not count because that could easily be fraud

seling tickets direct to consumer is not easy either especially on big tours

everything you said has already been thought about

Smaller established artists like deadmau5 already use Audius and swear by it as being heavensent but rappers and pop singers aren't even thinking that direction so clearly someone is using them and clearly it hasn't been thought about or else you'd see their albums on there in addition to being on Spotify and Apple

"Most signed artists use official sites by label to sell merch" Uhhh okay? Wow that's a really good argument against my point good job! Most artists sell merch on their website and my point is if you don't want to cut 20% with a middle man you can still use the same site you use without having to go through some of those payment vendors. I've seen a lot of people sell things on platforms like ourZora and keep 100% of the payment, get it instantly to their wallet on the blockchain instead of waiting days for confirmations and approvals. Both labels and the artists would agree that splitting from 100% is better than splitting from the 80% left from paying a 3rd party so how are you refuting me in any way

Yes I know certain streams aren't counted bc of bots but I saw PERSONALLY that I watched an ENTIRE VIDEO MULTIPLE TIMES with NO BOTLIKE BEHAVIOR and THE VIEWS WENT UP CORRECTLY THEN ALL REMOVED THE NEXT DAY. That means their DETECTION ALGORITHM IS SUBPAR which HURTS THE ARTISTS but they don't care to scrutinize how theyre getting paid. That's not just an "oh well" thing that's a big deal. Youtube can really do anything and claim that they lowered the views bc of suspicious activity and they're incentive is to make more profit so instead of making an actual legit algorithm they can just keep it that way and minimize how much they have to pay people because why would they care to get it right if none of these artists are even asking how the views are counted and if it's proper.

Seling tickets direct to consumer is as easy as hiring a few software developers to put them on your website instead of going through ricketmaster. I'm a coder it's not hard

Thank you for adding nothing to the discussion but dumb points. Don't see how i'm shilling a scam site when you literally pay nothing to upload music nor stream it idiot how can it be a scam

Labels do a lot more than you think. They can give artists that push they need to fully hit mainstream, they also can fund projects upfront, playlisting, marketing, radio etc.

they don’t “do a lot more than i think” you are majorly missing my point. the only reason they have the ability to do the things you mention is precisely the problem, which is that they’re parasites and unnecessary middlemen, ie capitalism working exactly as intended, ever the enemy of art.

I get what you mean, but i can understand why people would prefer to host their shop on an established platform rather than have to manage their own. When you consider the upfront cost, maintenance, cloud hosting etc, I would guess its similar to the 3rd party fee.

Repeat streams arnt counted because people could just loop the song year round. Dont know why you dont understand that. They cant have everyone just loop songs on repeat.

Anyone can write a smart contract and upload the file on their site. You don't even have to use any of those marketplaces like Opensea people just it bc it's established and they see others on it so it's convenient / is a marketplace where your stuff gets shown on front page and stuff but if you're a musician with a base already you don't need a marketplace's interface or promotion bc you are your own market and can just post a link. And even if you do want to use a marketplace there's like 40 competitors to Opensea with a 0% fee

i tried warning @op to chill out and not get hostile because that’s not gonna get him anywhere on this site let alone anywhere else but he ain’t get the message ig like seriously you could actually convince people but not with the way you go about it. sure some niggas come in here obviously hostile to your ideas but can you blame them? this is the prevailing notion of crypto in general and you have to accept that and work your way out of it instead of playing right into the stereotype of an evangelist cultlike cryptobro sneering at anyone who doesn’t “get it” and being hostile. trust me you’ll get a lot further on this site and in general by chilling tf out, especially since all this is obviously very important to you based on your posts/bio. im saying this because i want you to win in life genuinely and because im willing to consider all potential solutions to this huge mess we’re in

I thought the "sure you're right" was sarcastic and I thought you said go more into it my b.

I think for AI it will get cheaper and cheaper to run with less GPU power until we can run big models on our phones but for something like bitcoin it's relative competition meaning even if GPUs get more powerful you'll still need to buy more to compete with other miners so that might be a problem but (radical opinion) after all our insights from hyperadvanced AI i think we'll be able to reverse global warming by that point or at least fork bitcoin to use a different validation method

nah i don’t do sarcasm generally in a serious discussion. and yeah i just don’t fw bitcoin overall or a lot of these popular currencies, they’re more like proof of concepts to me but don’t have any real utility beyond market manipulation lol. another reason why i like monero which obviously has a huge amount of utility

He sold out Sofi Stadium as the person above this said but yeah ok no one knows him.
I'm not promoting any site I was giving an example but the fact that you're stuck on the word "NFT" calling it a scam after I told you clearly you don't have to pay anything. The "NFT" part just means that the song you upload is recorded on the blockchain. And therefore payments to and from your wallet can be viewed on the blockchain as opposed to not being able to see if you're being shorted by your label or something paying you the wrong amount

Yes that's why youtube has captchas and there's more ways of verifying someone is a legit viewer other than just removing views without the person's knowledge after the fact. How is it not hard to understand that youtube can technically put some bullshit in their algorithm to remove more streams than they should or could do anything really and say say "oh well"

Millions of tickets? A few hundred for an artist's show on a site is doable and people don't do it bc it's easy and convenient to go through an already established site and also these labels and venues have ties with ticketmaster. But some do do it, there's a lot of shows and events that don't go through ticketmaster
