I feel like Instagram is burnt out at this point. I remember when I first joined Ig back in 2012. S*** was so lit. Just posting cool pictures of my sneakers n s***. People nowadays don't even post pictures anymore smh. I deleted my Ig in 2019 after a manic/schizo posting spree where I was acting a jackass lol (I wish I didn't delete my page tho)
I sometimes be compelled to create a new account just so I can holla at this chick I lost contact with. I still got a burner account (no followers, no posts) just to view certain s*** but man it feels like Instagram has lost the plot.
It used to be just about pictures. Any type of pictures. Not just fit pics. I had all types of pictures on my Ig... like a solved Rubik's Cube, the blood pressure machine that used to be a Walmart where it checks your blood pressure (ya boy was healthy!), had a picture when I it snowed down here, etc... Now it just feels like everyone is SELLING themselves instead of having fun with it. F*** that selling yourself s***. Who you tryna impress?
There are some things Ig is good for like finding a barber/hair stylist, tattoo artist, place to eat, etc... so I can't knock ig completely. But man it feel like everybody on there be frontin. I know women who gotta take a lot of photos just to get the right picture to post. That s*** gotta happen naturally, you can't rehearse the swag smh
idk man just my unorganized thoughts. What are your thoughts on Instagram? What do you post?
I feel like there's no reason for me to hop back on Ig right now. Maybe that'll change in the future who knows
to post my art
and keep up with my friends
Once I deleted Facebook back in the day and found out IG was owned by them I never made an IG and don’t think I missed out on anything
I know a lot of people who only follow those they're relatively close with (rather than everyone you've ever met to try and maximize follower count). If you use it like an adult the app still has some utility for keeping in touch with friends
im fresh af

its bcause the algorithm pushes you people who ARE selling themselves . Everythng is for monatary gain after like 2016
I have a great experience on my burner account that's dedicated to following and interacting with accounts/topics I'm interested in. My algo is great, it's like being back on 2015 Tumblr.
My personal IG is a different story tho. The only value is the group chats & talking to friends
post art I guess but I don't even do that regularly. never liked having to conform to IG's specs or its reels-first focus. now I just check it every couple of weeks
Instagram use to be what VSCO is now
Do people still use VSCO I thought that was a dead app for posting on from a decade ago
I still use it sometimes to edit pics tho but not the profile page aspect of it
Great for networking in fashion and showcasing my designs/styling/photography
how have you been networking on there?
I'm trying to promote my photography and hopefully make my main gig at some point
why do you have to boil it down in such a reductive way, really unnecessary
because they're bored/lonely
Friends, posting stories and pics every now and then, looking at memes, etc...
I feel like you're complicating this. IG def isn't what it used to be but you can still post whatever you want just fine. If that's what you liked to do, why aren't you doing it anymore? You switched quickly to talk about what others are doing instead..
Social media in general is just like this now
