So with what’s going on artists can’t tour or party, everyone is confined to their house and I’m guessing most artists these days have a home studio. It’s easy to get producers to send music over. And it’s really their only revenue stream without touring or sponsorships. We should be getting more music than usual But that’s not the case so far. I wonder if that’ll change over the coming weeks
People aren’t listening to music like that right now. Streaming is down. If I was an artist I’d wait too.
Doesn’t make sense to drop music now seeing that you can’t tour and will lose out on so much potential revenue
Makes more sense to hold off until people can come to shows again
a guy In my country from the music industry said that people staying at home wasn't that good for music to be released now as people believe , even not considering tours people consume a lot of music in their cars and when they go to work
people at home rather binge a show than listen to an album
he also said people are scared right now so they aren't open to new things , people are consuming more music they already liked than new music
also its bad for artists to have their music associated forever with coronavirus
It's only been like a month, we'll see some content soon for sure
people are inside all the time.
i'm surprised it is not the other way around.

Makes sense
Artists make most of the money from tours
Usually, when an artists drops an album they tour after but obviously with whats going on everything is unsure. So a lot will just wait for a bit longer to see how things play out imo
And it's a big shame, 2020 was really out here looking like one of the best years in music since 15/16 just in terms of who will be dropping
Only in April and we already had Uzi, Weeknd, PND, Wayne, Baby, Tame Impala, Mac etc.
Still to come are Drake, Carti, Kendrick (probably), Gunna but it makes sense for them to all hold back now since things are rough, if I were them I would as well, I guess the one positive thing is we'll get a sudden significant influx of new music dropping consistently once things start to return to normal but that ain't looking likely until early-June

I can go either way but while tour money is out the window for now, this is a good time to get peoples attention

It’s spot on, and is basically what’s happening. The music obsessed - I.E. this forum — are such a minority when it comes to streams and audiences.
The casual music listeners catch so much of their music on commutes - car rides, the trains, social gatherings etc.
The rest is probably from osmosis of new films, tv shows, advertisements etc. which have also come to a screeching halt.
Unless you’re a huge star — e.g. The Weeknd, Uzi, or you’re intentionally releasing ‘mysterious music’ where you have no real interest in how well it does in a financial sense (Gambino), you’re better off holding out.

Normal rollout imposible at the moment, too much money being left out of the table
they should be making merch at the very least
