This genre is known for having garbage dynamic range
I don't have a surround setup but I take advantage by downmixing these Atmos mixes back to stereo
listening to C3 right now and it never sounded so good
spatial audio actually crazy but rap songs where the beats were designed entirely in a digital stereo environment just don't work for me
like the stereo bass? not it
everything else tho? 😏

my friend is doing these atm and he's basically just 'recording' the output through Quicktime and then downmixing and adjusting a little in Adobe Audition. It's possible there's a much more straightforward method
@op you got any general advice on how to treat a mix? I’m guessing I don’t want those fat loud waves huh?

I'm no mixing engineer so you'd probably be best off asking that in the creative showcase sxn. I'd say it depends on what you want. Compression is a useful tool. If you want something to sound realistic and three dimensional then you want good dynamics, vocals especially really come to life
The draw back is it'll probably sound not loud enough to a person using s***ty hardware to play it off, that's if they're usually listening to badly mastered loud music which is likely
