I have yet to play Expedition 33 or Death Stranding 2 yet but from what I've seen Death Stranding 2 looks pretty f***ing epic and it's pretty strange they didn't even win any awards at the Game Awards

Is Expedition 33 really that good?

The judges don’t have to play all the games and compare them, they just vote for what they played. DS2 is just on PS5, while E33 is on PS5, Xbox and PC so way more people on the voting panel likely played it.

Ultimately, both games were worthy of winning, a lot of the games in every category were worthy. We love to award one game over the rest but really they should all be tried and enjoyed, so in the end gamers won because of how many classics we got.

Expedition 33 is better.

Quite frankly, death stranding was the worst game nominated for GOTY and was really just the token Sony nomination this year since there wasn’t much else they could’ve used.

Split fiction, blue prince, dispatch, games like that were the real snubs and should’ve been in GOTY.

If I had time to play them all with an actual full time job then they definitely have time to play them all

I mean the panel is hundreds of people around the world, it would be hard to make sure they actually played all the games

Is Dispatch really that good?

I was excited for E33 the moment it was announced, but I actually enjoyed DS2 more. To be fair, DS2 caters more toward my interests. E33 is still my runner up goty

It is alright, but it’s not a game outside of the little mini game you do. Interactive tv show at best

Devs made a solid FF inspired turn based game in 4 years, it’s their first game , the story and lore was amazing. Everyone was praising it during release.

It earned goty tbh.

Death Stranding 2 could’ve won but I’m not mad at Expedition 33 for winning. It earned all the praise it got. Could’ve went either way.

Haven’t played any of these games but to have one game win 8 major awards of different categories kinda kills the idea of having all these distinct categories and scares smaller devs away from dropping in the same window as the giants such as rockstar or fromsoft or any instance when a game is a clear cut winner above the rest.

Would’ve been cool to see other games winning some of the other categories where e33 was nominated.. from what I’ve seen, kcd2 could’ve been a big shout for best rpg, hades 2 art direction.. etc
