He also had Timmy Turner and idk if Outlet made it on Billboard. His new projects he dropped after New English had no promotion at all so ofc it flopped. Ye didn’t do anything post-New English even though he generated commercial hits
didn they put this nigga on diplo songs n s***
The line between tape and album doesn't exist really anymore. They gave him the producers from GOOD to work with but he couldn't carve anything as close to Panda. They gave him a lot of promo runs too but if the music ain't backing it then people just don't care anymore.
What he should have done is start collabing with the other Lil's and youngers with feats
It's only so much a label can do
Huh? He made even better songs than Panda. Obviously success wise it'd be hard to replicate that because it was his breakout song, he was a fresh face and the Future comparisons, not to mention the song was kind of a meme too.
Everytime Desiigner had a "promo run" it was just random singles. Which is weird because he had been very vocal about him beinr ready to drop his album.
He was even hyping up "Life of Desiigner" specifically, as his debut album. Then the time came to drop it and all of a sudden its not an album anymore? That's not his fault.
the audience doesnt care
man has had 5 singles that did nothing except for one and one or two projects that did nothing
then started lashing out at his label and the people that were making fun of him
this may be why
He a real life pokemon

It wasn't an album because of the reception it got
It was trash and he backtracked
He had chances but people got over the gimmick

That doesn't make any sense.
He promoted it as an album specifically for an entire year before he even dropped it.

Then changed it to an EP before it even released, not after he got the reception.

https://twitter.com/LifeOfDesiigner/status/992122728793722880I stand corrected
2 Projects, multiple singles, promo run are alot more than many labels offer when the people don't care about the gimmick anymore
People rlly forgetting how hard Kanye pushed him
yeah they put out a bunch of singles
outlet was really good
but then hearing the songs he dropped after you kind of get why he wasnt allowed to drop
ill never understand how people blame GOOD for this lol dude makes trash music and got lucky with Panda. Timmy Turner was absolute garbage and so was his tape.
Timmy Turner was fire
They didn't "try" to save him if they didn't even let him release his debut album
Debut albums aren’t buzz builders in the current industry
That might have worked back in the 90s-2000s when albums were more profitable and listeners had more patience
If the mixtapes , singles or loosies don’t catch on you don’t get an album
Pusha thought he could get in a seat of power in the industry and just start forcing artists into the mainstream. It usually works, but when there already exists a bigger and more talented version of what you’re trying to promote, then you’ll have a harder time. Especially without good music (his tape was bad but what came after was good at least).

Kacy Hill had her album released under G.O.O.D.

Rap industry and indie/alt is very different

So you can release an album when you have 0 buzz in an niche market, but you can't release an album when you have at least some buzz in the most popular genre the world. 🤨
Doesn't make much sense.

Actually yeah
Because niche markets are generally carried by word of mouth and quality of music , so it doesn’t make much sense to dump a huge budget into promo
Something very mainstream has tons of competition and people trying to take off , so promo sets them above each other
