He should’ve just split Detox into like 3 albums with how much iterations it went through
There’s something about the names these Dre protégés pick that really adds to them being “literally who”
It’s like you’re supposed to know who the artist with that name is but you have never once heard of them before
Dre has more failed signees than successful ones, it’s just the ones on Aftermath who really made a name for themselves
Eminem
50
Game
Kendrick
Anderson
Are top tier

Game kind of a stretch these days but his first 2 albums are classics

Well it has been 20 years
I just revisited this album, and it’s quality throughout.
The intro is a banger and the rest of the album holds up.
Was it simply because it didn’t sound like The Chronic or 2001?
These are the 3 best songs on the album and makes me want to do 100+ on the freeway and slap a nigga
These 3 plus Animals are the tracks I still listen too today
Half the album is amazing
The other half is meh or just blends together
Still tho, 7 fantastic tracks and 4 i still listen in rotation - i think there is only one or two actually bad songs
yeah its a dope album
just different from chronic and 2001 because those are just straight bangers the entire tracklist this album more mellow at times
Is 2001 really straight bangers tho?
don’t think people hate it as much as they haven’t even listened to it in 9 years
didn’t even realize other people actually felt a way about it
Ktt hated it when it dropped lol
The delivery of the lyrics dated as f***. I actually liked the production but I grew up in the black church where gospel chops and bass runs and s*** is normal. The mixing was somewhat weird for what is normal for a Dre production.
Not a bad album but a middle of the road album
It's a good album, still sounds kinda overproduced, but miles better than Kush and I Need a Doctor (those were billed as singles for Detox, right?)
Is 2001 really straight bangers tho?
wtf hell yeah
the message is the only song on there thats on some deep s***
I like it. Talk About It, For The Love of Money, It’s All On Me, Deep Water were all bangers
Just wasn’t necessary
But does that take away from the quality of the album?
Is 2001 really straight bangers tho?
I f*** with 2001 second half. I only skip the p*** skit.
It's a solid album, but obviously nowhere near Chronic or 2001, nor did it meet the Detox hype.
Good album. Sometimes Dre's new flow sounds too modern though. I miss 2001 Dre.
